Setting the mood for success
Overview
Radix want to show new users how transactions work on the network in a playful way. There are currently no products that teach users the process of a transaction from the wallet to desktop apps.
Solution
Simplify the transaction process for users by creating a user-friendly, visually engaging interface. Promote user engagement within the Radix ecosystem by offering an accessible platform where users can test transactions in an enjoyable, low-stakes way. Educate users on how transactions work within the Radix network, increasing user confidence and familiarity with the technology.
User and Business Goals
Aligning Play and Purpose
Due to time constraints, project managers believed that their knowledge of the product and feedback from the community would be enough to provide valuable insights.
Task Flows
Navigating the experience
For the task flows, I mapped out the essential steps users would take to engage with Gumball Club’s key features, ensuring each interaction was intuitive and efficient.
These flows guide users through processes like connecting their wallet, purchasing GC Tokens, and interacting with different machines, such as buying gumballs, candy bags, and member cards.
The goal was to create a streamlined experience, minimising friction while offering users freedom of choice and clear guidance at each stage. This approach helped ensure that users could navigate the platform with ease while meeting their desired goals.

Simplifying Purchases with Thoughtful UX
I collaborated with the product manager to align the UX with both business and user needs, creating intuitive flows for purchasing GC Tokens, Gumballs, Candy Bags, and Member Cards using GC Tokens. Each flow was designed to reduce friction, with clear call-to-actions and visual feedback, enhancing engagement, trust, and ease of use. Below are the main screens
Branding
Finding an Identity
Inspired Simplicity
I looked to established fintech platforms like Revolut, PayPal, and Wise for clean, professional, and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring that Gumball Club’s design felt familiar yet fresh. The use of minimalist layouts, clear typography, and consistent color schemes helped me strike a balance between engaging users and promoting ease of navigation, which aligns with the platform’s playful yet practical ethos.

Final design
Unlocking the fun
Users are prompted to connect their wallet to the Gumball Club before using any features. This follows a familiar pattern that is used in other dApps on the network. The machines are shown on one screen to give the user freedom of choice, and there are various prompts and callouts that guide the user without restricting their freedom.
Outcome
Before
1. Creating Clarity: Ensuring users understood the flow from wallet connection to purchases.
2. Guidance vs. Freedom: Offering prompts without restricting user choice.
3. Building Trust: Providing a transparent transaction experience to boost confidence.
After
1. Unified Interface: A single screen displayed all machines, enabling easy feature selection and purchases.
2. Intuitive Prompts: Subtle guidance helped users navigate effortlessly.
3. Trust through Feedback: Real-time visual feedback built user trust and ensured a smooth experience.
Learnings
1. Guided Freedom: Balancing freedom of choice with strategic prompts kept the experience intuitive without being restrictive.
2. Iteration is Key: Continuous improvements based on testing and feedback enhanced both user satisfaction and ease of use.
